Reading is Fun... Not Dumb!

.   My how to speech was about how you should read to children. The speech did capture the attention of the audience because I came out with a clear topic and exactly how this was being done wrong and how to do it right. I don't think the topic was necessarily related to the audience because none of the students are children or parents. The body was previewed because I discussed how parents read monotined or fast to children. I then proceeded to say how this problem could be fixed.
My body paragraph consisted of steps on how to keep a child's attention while reading. I supported these points with my prop of the book "Green Eggs and Ham." I used the book to show points such as "choosing a book", "animate characters", and "sit so that the child can see the pictures." My points were organized and eac point transitioned into the next clearly and my points were clear and concise. my last body point was my strongest and then that transitioned into my conclusion. I summarized my points by saying that these are essential steps needed to take in order to read to a child effectively.  I called all my readers or listeners to go out into their community and read in a library or to their siblings.
I used different kinds of language in the sense that I changed my voice for some examples to show the tone of voice children would like to hear or would engage with. I had my book and notecard prepared before class and I barley looked at my notecard throughout my speech. I spoke clearly but I may have spoken a little too fast at some parts and I believe I was loud enough. my visual aid corresponded perfectly with my topic because it was a children's book and I used examples from the book within my speech. reading to children I believe is really fun and exciting so I think I did a good job expressing interest and enthusiasm of the story.
I think I achieved the purpose of telling people how to read to children effectively. I researched what children are interested in and what engages them. I believe some of the audience interested, I think some found it humerus. I completed my speech witching two minutes which is above the required.
I really enjoyed my topic because reading is something I love to do to calm me down or especially on rainy days. I love children as well and combing the two makes both better. I think this topic is very important because a big thing right now for children and teens is that they are uninterested in reading and more involved with cell phones and Internet. this is why it is essential to get children interested in reading and get them involved with it early because other wise they will hate it. If adults do not put in the time and effort to read to Children they will then put in the effort to read and become interested in reading.
